What We Believe - Confession of Faith
It is very apparent that we live in a world in which the
second law of thermodynamics is actively at work. This law simply
stated says that all things tend toward decay. One may well have never
heard of this law of physics, but we all certainly have seen it at
work. For example, the paint on a new house will in time begin to fade
and peel, gutters sag, and the roof leak. It seems we are continually
repairing or doing preventative maintenance to keep things from
deteriorating. Without such measures things go from order to disorder
in a relatively short period of time.
This reality is no less true in the spiritual realm.
Apart from appropriate attention and care for Biblical orthodoxy the
signs of “spiritual decay” soon manifest themselves. The history of the
church is full of examples where this has indeed been the case. Little
wonder that Jude says “Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to
you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to
you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was
once for all delivered to the saints” (v.3). Jude was compelled in
his day to contend earnestly for the Gospel and so it is for each
successive generation of the church of Jesus Christ.
It is our desire in this generation, with God’s help,
to contend earnestly for the faith. It is our desire to be faithful to
God and His Word so that in all things He alone is glorified as Creator,
Sustainer, Redeemer and Lord over all. The following is a part of our
confession of faith in which we endeavor in our day to “contend
earnestly for the faith”.
