Position Description – Staff Elder
Job Title: Staff Elder (part-time)
Purpose: This hourly, part-time position supports and expands the work of the elders of Bible Chapel in shepherding, equipping, and overseeing the congregation and all its ministries. Two of the main spiritual goals of the position include (1) equipping husbands and fathers to rejuvenated leadership within their families at Bible Chapel and (2) equipping the body to disciple our youth.
Qualifications
A man who possesses the qualities described in I Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:6-9.
Other desirable qualifications include:
- Previous faithful experience as an elder or a pastor,
- Training and experience in biblical counseling, and
- Experience in leading an equipping discipleship ministry.
General Responsibilities
In addition to serving as an elder of Bible Chapel and a member of the board of elders, including all the responsibilities common to the elders, this part-time staff elder position will have the following specific duties:
- Develop a ministry to equip and disciple husbands and fathers to shepherd/lead in their homes,
- Equip the body to disciple our youth,
- Assist the elders with Biblical counseling responsibilities, and
Accountability
The Staff Elder is accountable to the board of elders and under the direction of the pastor
Hours
16 to 24 hours per week
Compensation Range
$15-$18 per hour, depending upon experience. No health benefits or holiday pay included. Includes two weeks’ paid vacation, work-related mileage reimbursement, payment of the employer’s portion of Social Security, payment of workers’ compensation insurance, and all payroll taxes.
