Visit by Gracia Burnham
 We were privileged to have Gracia Burnham with us on Sept.13, 2009.
Gracia and her husband Martin were serving as missionaries in the Philippines when they were taken hostage. What started out as a relaxing, once-in-a-lifetime anniversary getaway at an exotic island resort turned into one of the most horrific nightmares imaginable. Kidnapped by the Abu Sayyaf, a terrorist group with ties to Osama bin Laden, the Burnhams were snatched away from friends and family and thrust into life on the run in the Philippine jungle experiencing a year long captivity, near starvation, constant exhaustion, frequent gun battles, being chained to a tree each night, and coldhearted murder. On June 7, 2002, in a firefight between the Philippine military and their captors, Martin was killed and Gracia was wounded but freed.
Gracia shared her amazing story of God's grace and the things God taught her through this long and hard ordeal. She is a living testimony to the transforming power of the gospel
in the hearts of God's people. She indeed emits the sweet fragrance of Christ in her life.

WORK TRIP: Lakeshore MS Katrina work trip dates are Jan.9–16th. More details TBA.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: To assist Salt and Light Ministry of Purdue University we will again be hosting international students the weekend of January 16–18, which will include 2 nights lodging and a few meals. In order to get a preliminary number of how many we can host please sign up in the foyer if you think you might be able to help with this outreach ministry.
PARENTING CONFERENCE with author and Pastor Paul Tripp will be held in West Chester on Jan. 29–30. Fliers are available in the foyer. ($45 and space is limited)
Katrina Work Trip 2008
Ten men from Bible Chapel were able to go to Lakeshore, Mississippi, Jan. 5-12 to assist with rebuilding homes destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in August of 2005. We were a part of a larger team of workers from various Reformed Baptist Churches from across the country. Lakeshore Baptist Church, pastored by Don Elbourne, has worked tirelessly since Katrina to help rebuild their community and share the good news of the gospel. They are doing a wonderful job of showing forth the love and mercy of Christ in their community. You can check out their website at RebuildLakeshore.com for more info.

2008 Tanzania Trip: In June, Pastor Landis and Dane Logan were able to travel and visit with Brad and Barb Settles who work among the Datoga people in northern Tanzania. They helped with the construction of a water tank for the Christian school and some other physical labor, Dane did dental work and Kevin did a two day seminar on the Christian home. They were also privileged to have Brad and Barb take them on a one day safari in the Serengetti. Pictures coming soon.
